Helen is the Principal of the firm, and holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from Monash University. Admitted to practice in 1993, Helen has over thirty years experience in a variety of areas of law.
Helen is widely acknowledged by her peers for her excellent and dedicated service, particularly in the areas of Family Law, Criminal Law, Wills and Probate, Contested Estate Matters, Wills Disputes, Employment, Commercial Law and Litigation. She has also previously undertaken the role of Independent Children’s Lawyer (Child Representative) in Family Law matters.
Helen is highly sought after for her expertise in dealing with emotional and fragile situations in Family Law and Criminal Law, being sensitive to her clients and delivering the best possible outcome, in times of great need.
Helen is a skilled advocate and has experience in all State and Commonwealth jurisdictions. She is known for her compassionate and yet determined and perseverance style in negotiating, to deliver favourable results.
Helen understands the importance of timely and practical advice, and is available for urgent consultations and appearances at Court, at short notice.
For family violence matters, Helen is experienced at providing clients with practical advice on the options available to either obtain or contest the making of an Intervention Order, Helen advises on the often unforeseen consequences of an Intervention Order, particularly where the parties are in a marriage or de facto relationship, where there are children who have been exposed to the violence, where the police are involved, or where the respondent has a firearms license.
Helen has extensive experience in dealing with Criminal Law matters at both Magistrates Court and County Court, including appearance and representation for serious criminal offences.
Helen adopts a common sense approach to tackling any issue, and importantly, to the fullest extent permitted by law, Helen will assist you in accomplishing your objectives. She has many years’ experience in resolving disputes in the area of Commercial Law and Litigation, Employment Law, having previously worked in these areas in Hawthorn and the Melbourne CBD, and is able to provide practical advice to ensure client’s interests are fully protected.
Helen has achieved success in submitting private and government Tenders, preparing Commercial Agreements, applications for Licencing with various government agencies, and preparing Appeals to higher jurisdictions.
Helen has a long standing history of community involvement, having previously taught at the Faculty of Law at Victoria University and having been heavily involved in a number of legal services as an employee, volunteer and committee member including at Western Suburbs Legal Service, North Melbourne Legal Service and Werribee Legal Service.
Helen, having had her own experience as a migrant, is also sensitive to cultural differences and language barriers. Helen is a fluent speaker of both French and Greek.
Helen enjoys maintaining a well-rounded practice, and has a passion for doing her utmost to advance her client’s interests. Helen is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria and being a Solicitor on the Register of the High Court is entitled to practice in any Federal Court.
